Why Shotokan Karate for Children

Self Confidence Karate is one of the best builders of self confidence. Traditional Shotokan Karate training helps prepare a child for life, helping with issues such as bullying, the pressures of exams and the building of self esteem. Children like to perform, especially for the people they love and respect. With a little encouragement and support from the instructor, they will rise to the occasion and surprise themselves with their own achievements.

Etiquette Children are taught from the outset that Shotokan Karate is primarily a defensive and not an offensive martial art. Children learn how to be polite and respect their fellow students, instructor and parents.

Discipline A child’s concentration is enhanced if they learn to focus their mind on the job in hand, whether by learning a sequence of complicated techniques in Karate or by passing an exam in school. Many parents notice a marked improvement of concentration once Karate training has commenced.

Why Shotokan Karate for Adults

Self Defence Street violence, especially muggings, take place in every town in the country, and Shotokan
Karate is an effective form of unarmed combat.

Health and Flexibility Shotokan Karate will help to improve your overall fitness and general wellbeing.
With regular training, flexibility and strength will improve.

Crystal Cats Line Dancing with Helen
Crystal Cats Line Dancing with Helen

Crystal Cats Linedancers Our class started in 2004 and I am delighted to say that we are still going strong. We dance to a variety of music - some country, some pop and even Irish music. From 6.30pm beginners are taken through beginner dances, teaching steps slowly so that they learn new steps each week. As time goes on they can stay later and start to learn higher level dances. We move on through the evening to improver and intermediate level linedances and we finish at 9.30pm. We use the main assembly hall at Caroline Chisholm School, which is a lovely big space and there is also a large car park on site. Please wear comfortable shoes and bring a drink. For more info please contact me… helen@crystalcats.org Hope to see you soon. Please note - there are no classes on Bank Holidays.

Mereway Badminton Club
Mereway Badminton Club

Mereway Badminton Club was first formed in 1976. Since then it has provided a great many people in Northampton with an organised and friendly club at which to enjoy the exciting sport of Badminton. Having originally started out at Mereway school, over the years we have played at a number of locations in Northampton and now consider ourselves very fortunate to have use of the excellent new facilities at the Wooldale Centre for Learning (Caroline Chisholm School), in Wootton, Northampton, not so far from our original home. We play on Friday evenings, between 7pm and 10pm and are very happy to welcome players of all ages. Whether you are an experienced player looking for more playing opportunities, or a player who has recently moved to the Northampton area, or perhaps someone returning to the game after a break, if you’re looking for somewhere to play Badminton in Northampton we would love to hear from you.
